Group Fitness Member of the Month: Maryalice!
Congratulations to our Group Fitness Member of the Month, Maryalice!
I’ve been a member since Jada Blitz opened in the old BAC space several years ago. Initially, I joined because of inertia. I take dance-based fitness classes (the only type of gym option I’ve ever been able to stay with) and since my instructor at the time stayed with Jada, so did I. The instructor has since moved on, but I’ve known Carol for years as well and she’s great.
MY GOALS & BECOMING A GROUP FITNESS MEMBER:
My fitness goals are to keep moving and stay with whatever I choose. In that sense, the Zumba classes have fit the bill; My next goal is to try a weight training class that fits my schedule.
My experience with Carol’s class has been low stress and a lot of fun! Both Carol and the other students are friendly and welcoming, and we all just get together and dance for 50 minutes. It almost doesn’t feel like a workout (almost!).
I really like the camaraderie, and the low-stress nature of the class. Carol is friendly and very welcoming to students, both our core group and anyone else who drops in. She’s created a nice vibe.
The hardest part of working out is getting started – changing your schedule and routine – but it’s so worth it, both physically and mentally. I’ve been taking fitness classes for 25 years, and it’s easy to stay with it once you make that initial commitment.
ADVICE FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT TRYING A GROUP FITNESS CLASS:
It sounds cliche, but just do it! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never taken Zumba or any type of aerobic dance class, or even if you can’t dance. You’ll pick up a lot of the steps the more you come, and other than that, just move and have fun!
MEET CAROL, GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR AT JADA BLITZ FITNESS
Maryalice is one of one of my “regulars” who comes to Zumba class at least once a week. She is committed to her exercise routine and always has a great attitude. Maryalice works during the day but is allowed time out of her workday to exercise. What a great encouragement to get a workout in!
I picked Maryalice as Group Fitness Member of the Month because she knows the dance routines! Others in the class can always glance at her to get back on track if needed. Maryalice was a member at Jada Blitz when I started to teach the morning classes in January of 2022. I have known her for about 5 years, from both being members at a former gym taking Zumba classes together. She always has a smile and an easy going personality to talk and dance with!
