Client of The Week: Tim!

 In Client of the Week

Congratulations to our Client of the Week, Tim!

I have been a member at Jada Blitz for over 3 years. I have been working out for over 20 years but found myself in a rut and looking for a change. Jada Blitz was appealing to me because of the great equipment and atmosphere.

MY GOALS & BECOMING A PERSONAL TRAINING CLIENT

My original goals were to gain about 10lbs of muscle. So far, I have seen positive results in gaining lean muscle. With the help of Travis, I am close to achieving my overall goal.

My more current goals include increasing flexibility, strength and size of my legs. Restarting skiing, I really wanted to strengthen my legs. I have already seen significant progress in all of these areas, as well as hit PRs on my squats almost on a weekly basis. My previous knee pain has also significantly decreased.

My training experience with Travis has been very positive. Travis is very knowledgeable and offers a variety of exercises that work different parts of the leg. Every workout is challenging and fun.

What I have enjoyed most is the intensity of the workouts. Every workout is different but is always challenging. We have some core exercises (i.e. squats) but we always do them differently to keep the workout fresh.

A favorite memory while training was when Travis added chains on the squat rack. This offered such a change to the traditional squat and is now a staple in our workouts.

One thing I’ve taken away from this experience is to listen to your trainer. On one heavy squat day, Travis warned me that I should only do 3 reps, although I thought I could do 5. On rep 5 I ended up straining my back. Travis knew best…

ADVICE FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT TRYING PERSONAL TRAINING

If you are serious about achieving your goals, write them down clearly and be sure to communicate this to a trainer. They know how to get you to where you want to be.

THE FACILITY & STAFF

Overall, I’ve had a positive experience. Karen at the front desk is awesome, all the trainers are very knowledgeable, and everyone is positive.

FITNESS IS UNDEFINED. WHAT’S YOUR FIT?

Fitness is very important to me. I train in the morning and it is a great way for me to start the day. Fitness helps me stay in shape and clear my mind and as a result, it definitely helps my perspective.

MEET TRAVIS KELKENBERG, CPT AT JADA BLITZ FITNESS

When Tim started working with me he had already gotten a good start working one-on-one with a personal trainer. Tim has been lifting for a long time now and has seen some ware and tear. After assessing his movement, I could tell we needed to approach his progress in a fairly technical fashion. He was all ears and willing to “start over,” so to speak. We started to rebuild his squat specifically, and now Tim is squatting without knee and back pain, moving considerable weight, and most importantly moving it well.

I look forward to working with Tim because I know he’s going to get after it each and every time and do so without an ego leading his lift. And because of that, he progresses regularly. We work well together and there’s a level of trust that makes that easy on my part.
