Client of The Week: Leah!

 In Client of the Week

Congratulations to our Client of the Week, Leah!

I have been with Jada Blitz since July 2022. I knew that I wanted to work with a personal trainer and I decided to join Jada Blitz because it was clear that the staff here are highly qualified and experienced. The facility is beautiful and the Balanced Body meals are an added convenience that I can take for lunch and stay on track with healthy eating.

I knew for some time that my weight and eating habits were spiraling out of control, and I needed to regain control. I also felt depressed, and my hope was that by taking better care of myself physically, that it would benefit me mentally as well.

I am not big on setting very specific goals like “I want to lose X pounds in Y months” or “I want to be a see X by Summer.” My goal right now is to build consistent habits – get to the gym regularly and develop better eating habits. I know that if I do that, the results will come. So far, I have been able to stay consistent and have lost nearly 25 pounds. As an added bonus, I do believe that training has helped lift my spirits.

Anthony and I are focusing primarily on strength training. This is helping me to build muscle and give my metabolism the boost it needs for me to burn more calories.

I enjoy working with Anthony for a few different reasons:
1) His emphasis on proper form
2) He finds the perfect balance of how hard to push or challenge me. He doesn’t let me get comfortable setting the equipment at the same weight each week. He increases the weight when he knows I can handle it, but clearly knows when to step in and offer support if I might need it. He just intuitively knows.
Given that this is personal training, it’s funny how often the conversations turn to food! But Anthony reminds me it’s OK to splurge once in a while (80/20 rule) and suggests some good swaps for the unhealthy stuff.

One thing I’ve learned through personal training is that things aren’t always going to be perfect; show up anyway and do the best you can. I sprained my ankle 3 days before my first session with Anthony and briefly contemplated delaying my training, but I showed up anyway and we focused on upper body until I could put more weight on the ankle joint. Sometimes you’re tired and have had a rough day at work; show up anyway.

If you are thinking about trying personal training and/or the gym, do not hesitate. We spend time and money on a lot of things over the course of our lives – fancy dinners, clothes, beauty treatments, toys like ATVs and snowmobiles – but nothing is as important as your health. Invest in yourself.

Everyone at Jada Blitz has been super friendly and welcoming!

Training with Leah is a great time, she always shows up and pushes her limits to achieve her goals. I always have fun while training Leah, from her giving it her all to us laughing and joking in between sets- even though she hates how I count.

One of my favorite moments is when we found out she was down 20 pounds! Another good memory is when Leah told me that she ran over a mile without stopping. She was really impressed because she didn’t know that resistance training would improve her cardiovascular system to help her running!
