For those of you that have not been living under a rock, I am sure you have heard all the buzz surrounding CBD oil. This post is meat to help you understand the history of CBD, what CBD oil is, what it’s used for, product differences, and proper dosage/usage.
What is CBD Oil?
CBD is the abbreviation for the word cannabidiol. CBD is one of the primary cannabinoid compounds found in the cannabis plant. The cannabis plant contains over 100 active cannabinoids, CBD being the most studied.
It is important to understand that a cannabis plant is not necessarily a marijuana plant. A cannabis plant can be cultivated into either a hemp or marijuana plant. Hemp plants contain high amounts of CBD and very low levels of THC. THC is the cannabinoid that is responsible for the “high” associated with marijuana usage. THC is also what is tested for during a drug test.
The CBD oil products at Jada Blitz are hemp derived CBD oil. These products contain less then 0.3% THC. This means there is no “high” when it comes to using CBD oil.
CBD has been around for since the early 1800’s. CBD was used in both prescription and over the counter medications. CBD was found to help with, seizure disorders, inflammatory arthritis, sleep, and much more. Unfortunately, during the Great Depression, the US government was running low on funds. Cannabis and any of its plant parts were the perfect scapegoat. The government declared cannabis as scheduled drug. People caught with cannabis products were heavily fined. Hemp specifically was also a threat to the textile, tobacco, and petroleum industries. Many powerful persons lobbied for the criminalization of CBD. This effectively ended much of the research that was being carried out on CBD.
In 2003 the US government filed for a patent on CBD and its medical benefits. The government successfully patented CBD oil calling it a promising ant-inflammatory and antioxidant. They stated it may have medical benefits when it comes to supporting a host of diseases including, stroke, TBI, Alzheimer’s, chronic pain, and many more. The government also stated that CBD does not have psychoactive, addictive, or dependency qualities making it a great alternative to THC medications or other harsh pharmaceuticals.
CBD oil works by balancing the bodies endocannabinoid system aka our ECS. Our ECS is responsible for regulating hormones, sleep, immune function, digestive function, reproductive function, appetite, inflammatory response and much more. We have CB1 and CB2 receptors all over our body. CBD oil has also been shown to positively impact serotonin levels, the feel-good hormone.
CBD is most commonly used to help support a host of conditions. The primary conditions CBD may benefit are chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, stress, depression, addiction/ nicotine & opioid withdrawal, fibromyalgia, menopause, migraine, muscle recovery, athletic focus, inflammation, and much more.
When purchasing a CBD oil product, it is best to look for one with the following qualities. Jada Blitz CBD oil covers each aspect listed below. The product should be:

- 3rd Party Tested
- Domestic and organically grown
- Company transparency
- Produced in an FDA compliant facility
- Carrier oil quality
- Product purity; Is the product watered down with other oils and fillers?
- CBD concentration and strength
- Supercritical CO2 Extraction; This involves the use of low heat temperatures to extract the CBD oil.
CBD oil dosage
CBD oil dosage is tricky. At the end of the day you must use some degree of intuition. Everyone is different. I would highly recommend watching the video on dosage in the website link below. You will notice different bottle concentrations of CBD available. The stronger the concentration, the smore CBD contained in each individual drop. If you find you are only needing 3-5mgs of CBD a day the 500mg concentration is a great buy. If you are taking 40-100mgs of CBD daily the 1000mg-3500mg concentration is a better buy.
500mg (20mg per dropper/24 drops) 0.83 mg per drop
750mg (30mg per dropper/ 24 drops) 1.25 mg per drop
1000mg (40mg per dropper/ 24 drops) 1.66 mg per drop
1500mg (60mg per dropper/ 24 drops) 2.5 mg per drop
As a rule of thumb most people should begin with 10-20mg’s daily taken 1-3x daily. You administer the oil under the tongue, letting it sit for 1 minuet then rinsing with water. Normally I recommend 10-20mgs upon waking and 10-20mgs prior to bed. Post menopause females tend to require a higher dosage for desired effects. It is not uncommon that people report an energizing effect from CBD oil, therefore nighttime usage may not be ideal. Play around with the does and timing, use your intuition, see what works best for you. You can find more information on dosage in the link below.
Here is an excerpt from “CBD: A Patient’s Guide to Medicinal Cannabis–Healing without the High” by Leonard Leinow, Juliana Birnbaum, Michael H. Moskowitz. A great book and is available on Kindle.
“There are 3 different levels of dosing (Micro, Stand, and Macro) depending on the condition. Everyone’s endocannabinoid system is unique – one size does not fit everyone. Start with 6-12 drops twice a day and gradually increase the number of drops based on symptom response. If there are any unpleasant side-effects it should be stopped immediately.
“Micro doses are considered a low level of medication, in the range of 0.5 mg to 20 mg of CBD per dose per day (CBD/dose/day). Micro doses can be effective for sleep, headache, mood disorders, nausea, PTSD, stress, and metabolic disorders.
Standard doses are the mid-range, between 10 mg to 100 mg of CBD/dose/day. Standard doses have been shown to be effective for pain, inflammation, autoimmune disorders, Lyme disease, anxiety, depression, arthritis, some mental disorders, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel syndrome, autism, and weight loss.
Macro (or therapeutic) doses are at the high range, between 50 mg and 800 mg of CBD/dose/day. Doses at this level are often used to treat cancer, epilepsy, seizure disorders, liver disease, and other severe life-threatening conditions.”
It is important to know why you are using the CBD oil. This is the best way to monitor your dosage. What are you looking to accomplish? Better sleep, improved focus, pain reduction? Monitor your symptoms.
