Becoming a More Vibrant, Healthier You!

 In Tips & Advice

Many of us have made 2017 the year that we are determined to become the best versions of ourselves.  For many of us, it means dropping a few pounds after the holidays.  For others, it is flushing out toxins and improving energy.  If you have started losing your motivation as the new year vibes slowly fade away, here are a few ways to do get back on the bandwagon:

One of the best ways to get more energy is to cut our processed foods.  This may seem like a no-brainer, but try to limit sugar, highly refined carbohydrates, alcohol, and other packaged foods.  If you are looking for a mild way to detox your body, eating probiotic rich foods and getting enough fiber is a great way to start.  Fermented foods, like kombucha and kefir, boost gut-healthy bacteria and balance the flora of your gut.  By supporting your digestive tract and being able to process wastes effectively, fiber acts as a natural scrubber for your GI tract and nourishes gut-healthy bacteria.  A great way to find out if you are eating correctly for what your body needs is to set up a consultation with one of our nutrition coaches at Jada Blitz.  We have adopted a system of flexible dieting and macronutrient tracking in order to help you reach any fitness goal you need to achieve, from losing weight to adding quality muscle tissue.   Meal prep programs through Balanced Body have also been a great way for our clients to receive nutritious meals that are already freshly prepared each week for pickup if you do not have time to prepare meals ahead of time.

If you are feeling sluggish and in constant need of a mid-day energy boost, pay closer attention to your water intake.  Our bodies are 70 percent water, so needless to say, getting eight to ten glasses of water per day is never a bad idea.  If you are not a fan of plain water, try to infuse water with fresh fruits like lemon or strawberries.  Cucumber and ginger also make great additions to infuse.  Herbal teas can be steeped warm or cold to add great flavor without the calories to your water to increase your intake.

Breaking a sweat will release some feel-good endorphins and boost your metabolism.  You can help torch fat cells and release fat-soluble toxins by incorporating high intensity interval training into your routines.  Our Tabata and Cardio and Core classes are a great way of incorporating these moves into your routine if you are not familiar with these types of training.  Moving your body helps you stimulate blood circulation and improve your lymphatic system, especially as we are coming to the end of cold and flu season.

One of the most important aspects of detoxing and becoming your best self is getting rid of all of the chatter in your head so that you can live more presently and enjoy life.  By being more mindful, we can tap into our parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest and digestion.  Make sure you leave yourself time during the week to reflect, write in a journal, or pray.  Focus on taking time to enjoy a walk or mediate without feeling guilty that you are at peace with the time you have.  For a special way to relax, try a massage or other form of body work to recover and reset your body.  Taking time to take care of yourself is mentally and physically important for your health.  To schedule an appointment, please contact Stephanie at Blitz Body and Mind Massage at 866-3261.
