Group Fitness Member of the Month: Ron

 In Member of the Month

Congratulations to our Group Fitness Member of the Month, Ron!

I’ve been with Jada Blitz for about a year and a half now, but my history with this building goes back much further—I was a member here in the early ’90s when it was the Eastern Hills Racquet and Fitness Center.

My daughter, Corinne, first introduced me to Jada Blitz after her previous gym, Fitness 19, closed. She joined Jada and raved about the Cycle and Group Fitness classes, encouraging me to give them a try. After attending a few classes, I was immediately impressed—not just by the instructors and class variety, but also by the welcoming atmosphere and friendly front desk staff. It didn’t take long before I decided to become a member myself, and I’ve been loving it ever since!

MY GOALS & BECOMING A GROUP FITNESS MEMBER:

When I first joined Jada Blitz, my main goals were to improve my cardiovascular health, build strength, and enhance muscle tone. Thanks to the exceptional instructors and the wide variety of class options, I can confidently say I’ve achieved those goals.

Beyond that, I’ve also seen a significant improvement in my overall health. My most recent bloodwork showed a drop of about 60 points in my cholesterol levels compared to the previous year—despite never having particularly high cholesterol to begin with. My blood pressure and heart rate have also decreased. When my doctor asked what I had changed, I told her about my commitment to spin and strength classes multiple times a week, combined with healthy eating. She was thrilled with my progress and encouraged me to keep it up, emphasizing that this is the best way to maintain good health—far better than relying on medication for similar results.

My current goal is to stay on track with everything I’ve accomplished so far. As I get older, maintaining my health is a top priority—because, hands down, it’s the best life insurance you can have. The Balanced Body meals that are conveniently located in the lobby have also been a huge asset in supporting my goals. They offer a healthier alternative to eating out, are more cost-effective, and provide the nutrition I need to stay on track.

The group fitness experience at Jada Blitz has been nothing short of amazing. While I do work out on my own, there’s something about a group setting that pushes you to go further. The energy, camaraderie, and encouragement from both the instructors and fellow members make every class something to look forward to. I started with cycle, strength, and cardio, and even incorporated yoga into my routine. Having a variety of workout options keeps things exciting and helps prevent boredom or burnout.

Ashley’s classes, in particular, have been a game-changer for me. She always ensures we warm up and stretch properly, explains each workout in detail, and pays close attention to form—offering helpful corrections when needed. And if she thinks you can handle a heavier weight, she won’t hesitate to bring one over to help you maximize your workout! What I love most is that no two classes with her are ever the same. The variety keeps things challenging, and there’s nothing better than walking out of class knowing you pushed yourself, had fun, and can’t wait to do it again!

Reflecting on my journey, there are a few valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way. One of the most important is that if you don’t make time for your health, you’ll eventually have to make time for illness. We are given one body and one life, and it’s our responsibility to take care of it the best we can. Prioritizing exercise, eating well, surrounding yourself with good people, staying active, and practicing moderation—these are the true keys to long-term health and wellness. At the end of the day, taking care of yourself is the best insurance policy you could ever have.

ADVICE FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT TRYING A GROUP FITNESS CLASS:

Don’t be afraid or intimidated to give it a try! Everyone starts somewhere, and progress comes with time. Start small and work your way up—even if it’s just five minutes at first. What matters most is that you keep going and stay consistent. The people in the classes are incredible, and the atmosphere is so much fun that it makes every workout enjoyable.

I truly believe that 75% of the challenge is just getting to the gym—once you’re here, the rest is easy. It’s so easy to push it off and say, “I’ll go tomorrow or I’m too tired or a little sore from yesterday.” But if you reach the point where skipping a workout makes you feel like you’re missing out, you’ve won. That’s when you know you’re on the right path to achieving your fitness goals.

MEET ASHLEY, GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR AT JADA BLITZ FITNESS

I first met Ron and his daughter, Corinne, in a cycle class. They came together, and I thought it was the sweetest thing to see. I truly admired Ron for stepping outside his comfort zone to support his daughter’s passion for spin. From that moment on, he’s held a special place in my heart.

I chose Ron as our Group Fitness Member of the Month because he is the definition of consistency. If you’ve ever taken my class, you know exactly what I mean. He’s always present, reliable, and fully committed to pushing himself. Whether it’s trying a new exercise or lifting heavier weights, Ron consistently challenges himself and sets a great example for everyone around him.

One of the most remarkable things I’ve seen in Ron is his growth in confidence. His dedication has shown me that consistency is key—when you show up as the best version of yourself, growth naturally follows.

Ron is an absolute pleasure to have in class. He quickly became a favorite among the instructors, which is why we jokingly refer to it as the “Mr. Ron Fan Club.” It’s been so rewarding to witness his journey, and I’m excited to see how he continues to challenge himself moving forward!
